Recently, I was reading an online article by a fellow minister that asked the question: “If you were given a million dollars and a year off, what would you do?”
Her readers (including yours truly) wrote in answers listing the things they would do if they had an abundance of free time and money. The answers were filled with people’s hopes, dreams, delayed priorities, and aspirations of things they’d like to accomplish, if only….
If only….
It’s the stuff that wishes and dreams are made of. It’s also the excuse for many people’s procrastination.
When it comes to us single gals, it often sounds like this:
Someday when I meet the right guy
…..get married
…..have children
…..have my own home
…..advance to the job I really want
I’ll be…
….Happy
….Fulfilled
….Satisfied
….Content
Then I’ll finally…
….Get serious about my relationship with God,prayer, and Bible study
….Volunteer for that position
….Take that trip
….Mend that broken relationship
….Take responsibility for my finances
….Invest my time in mentoring a young woman
….the list could go on and on.
What we’re really saying is “Once my real like gets started, I’ll start living the live I want to live and doing the things I want to do.”
Dear Ladies, I am here today to give you a piece of very valuable information:
Your Real Life Started THE DAY YOU WERE BORN.
Even more importantly, God’s plan and purpose for your life started THE DAY YOU WERE CONCEIVED.
Psalm 139:13 & 16 says, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb….Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
God told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
The truth is that your real life began the moment you breathed your first breath of oxygen and screamed at the top of your lungs letting the doctor, nurses, and your mother know that you were on this earth. God never intended for you to wait until you meet the right guy, marry and have a family, or land the right job for you to start living every day to the fullest. Rather, He has a plan and a purpose for every single day of your life.
Today, He has a mission for you to fulfill…an adventure just waiting to be explored. Whatever your circumstances, God’s will is that you make the most out of your life TODAY.
And tomorrow.
And every day that you’ve given to live on this earth and serve Him, whether you be married or single or have everything you think you want and need or not.
As my fellow blogger wrote: You are called to Make Your Life Matter No Matter What.
The opportunity to live your best life starts today. It isn’t dependant on whether you meet Prince Charming or your former Prince Charming wants to come back, make things right and try again.
Instead, the choice is up to you.
Are you ready to seek God’s plan and purpose for your life and then begin taking the necessary steps to walk in it today?
Are you ready to….
Take that class
Forgive the one who hurt you
Start living by Biblical principles
Take a step of faith and risk what is necessary to fulfill the dreams God’s placed in your heart?
Are you ready to stop wasting the precious days of your life wishing and dreaming and begin living your best life now?
Ultimately, the choice is up to you.
Do you want to spend your time and energy living the amazing plan God has for you right now or waste another day…week…month…year…decade in the deep dark wasteland of “If Only”?
My challenge: Choose to stop waiting for someday and make the most of TODAY. Live with no regrets. Live your best life NOW!
